The state capital and largest city in South Carolina is also home to the greatest population of singles! Over 82% of the population is unmarried, and only 11,000 of the more than 47,000 homes have children. Residents enjoy a miniscule 15 minute commute time and easy access to all the amenities and activities of the big city. With an abundance of bars, pubs, restaurants and live music venues, there is always somewhere to go. The median income is over $38,000 and more than 35% of dwellers have completed either a bachelors or graduate degree

For singles who want to be near but not necessarily in the city consider Dentsville. Located just 8 miles outside of Columbia, residents will still enjoy a short commute and close proximity to the attractions and services of the capital. Only 17% of the residents are married, with single women outnumbering single men 55% to 45%. With recent median home prices hovering around $115,000, this community offers an affordable option to singles looking to get a home of their own.

Located 42 miles from both Columbia and the Santee National Wildlife Refuge, this community of just over 5,000 homes offers easy access to both. 82% of residents here are unmarried, with a median age of 29 years. Significantly, the median sale price of homes in Orangeburg was just $69,000 from March through June of this year! This presents an excellent opportunity for singles looking to buy a home for monthly payments that could be less than what they are currently paying in rent. Additionally, Lake Marion is just 28 miles away and offers camping, fishing, a marina and abundant wildlife.
