Sitegeist Mobile App for Real Estate Agents Taps Neighborhood Data

Do your Real Estate buyer clients ask you questions about more than just your listing, such as about the surrounding area? Want to know the demographic data about any neighborhood with just one click? There's an app for that!

The old industry adage, "location, location, location," has always propelled clients to ask about the particulars of a neighborhood. With the current neighborhood information provided by Sitegeist, built by the Sunlight Foundation, agents are no longer forced to hours of dreary research.

Realtors know that the information they share with clients must be relevant, valid and credible for each situation. The Sunlight Foundation took that concern into account. The company designed the app with the assistance of one of the world's preeminent design agencies, IDEO. The agency specializes in helping both private and public organizations design the innovations that will support their unique needs. Another partner was the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, which works to inform and engage communities through journalism, information systems and the arts. Considering the credibility of this triad, realtors may rest assured that the information gleaned from Sitegeist will honestly and accurately represent a neighborhood's culture.

Sitegeist draws its data from publicly available information, such as the U.S. Census and Yelp. Graphics, charts and graphs will highlight information about a neighborhood's age distribution, political contributions, average rent, popular local spots, recommended restaurants, weather and modes of transportation. All of this information will prove invaluable to agents who assist clients in making the right Real Estate purchase.

Update 2015/08: unfortunately, the app is retired.
